THE MIND THAT OPENS TO A NEW IDEA NEVER RETURNS TO ITS ORIGINAL SIZE.
ALBERT EINSTEIN
I first experienced the thrill of standing at the front of a classroom, eager young faces looking for guidance, at the fresh age of seventeen, and have never looked back since.
Over a twenty year career, I have had the privilege of teaching both children and teachers in a variety of settings and even countries, from the maintained and independent sectors in the UK, to Australia, India and East Africa. I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience which I will bring to The Children’s House.
In London, I spent eleven years at North Bridge House Prep School, where I taught almost every year group and subject, established and ran a library and became well versed in the secondary school transition process at 11 and 13. In my most recent post, as Head Teacher of Connaught House, W1, the school’s Key Stage Two expanded to retain boys, and the curriculum broadened and modernised under my guidance.
I am delighted to be leading The Children’s House into its new chapter. I am passionate about emotional wellbeing as the foundation for academic success, and the personalisation that can be achieved in small schools. As a trained and practicing Life and Wellbeing coach, I utilise my coaching skills as a Head Teacher, supporting and encouraging each individual in my care to achieve their full potential.
A successful school career, I believe, hinges on two qualities, which I model and nurture in others. They are curiosity and kindness. If one approaches oneself, others and the wider world with curiosity and kindness, then learning and growth will always be a joy.
