Upstairs Nursery News
The children have really enjoyed investigating how different types of toys work-pull along, wind up, friction, electronic and string puppets. We have encouraged them to make comparisons and find similarities and differences.
Throughout the week, the children showed great delight in organising a tea party for their favourite toys. They have applied their phonic knowledge to create lists and party invitations and explored the concepts of sharing fairly and 1 to 1 correspondence whilst setting up the table. The children went on to listen to Mozart’s “Toy Symphony” and have used a variety of percussion instruments to create music for the party.
The focus on recycling this week has given us an opportunity to reflect upon our impact on our environment. The children have made their own posters illustrating how to look after our planet and were very enthusiastic to sort, wash and recycle items from their own lunchboxes, that could be used again in a different way.
It was wonderful to see the children’s imagination shine through as they transformed recycled materials into works of art. They have created magnificent ships, robots, boats, trains and even microphones!
The Junk Orchestra workshop inspired the children further to think of the endless possibilities of recycling and what great fun they all had!
