Eco-Schools
Dear all,
As we approach the end of the year, we have been reflecting on the main aims of our Eco School Action Plan. As such, we have all been helping to keep the plants thriving in the playground, mounted another bee hotel in King Henry’s Walk Garden and ensured everyone is remembering to keep the school litter free.
We are very nearly ready to submit our Eco Schools award application, with the hope of attaining the Green Flag award. The last step is for the children to learn our eco code, as devised by the Eco Committee. Here it is:
“Keeping school clean helps the world stay green. Switch off the light to keep the Earth shining bright!”
We will be recording the children reciting the eco code this week, and then our Green Flag application will be submitted.
Don’t worry if your child wanted to be part of the eco-committee but didn’t get the chance this year – there will be more opportunities next year!
For our Big Battery Hunt we collected an impressive 735 batteries which will be safely recycled – well done! We continue to collect batteries for recycling throughout the year, so please send any used portable batteries in at any time (no battery packs or phone batteries please).
I hope the children have enjoyed being part of the school’s effort to become more eco-friendly, and that learning about the things that impact the environment has been a positive experience.
Thanks for all your support.
Rick
