Welcome message from The Upper School

Dear Parents, 

I am delighted to welcome you and your children into the new school year!  

What a pleasure it was to open the gates this morning to so many excited faces and voices, after a summer of building works and months of anticipation.  I would like to extend an extra special welcome to our new teachers and support staff: James (Year 2 Class Teacher), Rose and Bronia and all of our new children, from the littlest as they begin their school career in Reception, to our three new pupils who have joined further up the school.  I know that many are feeling quite at home already.   

Upstairs, in the upper hall of the church, our first cohort of Year Threes settled into their beautiful new classroom, enjoying their grown up flip top desks and the pristine white walls – a new space brimming with possibility. I look forward to seeing them make the space their own.  The rest of the building works are almost complete and we can’t wait for the hall and our new toilets to be finished over the next few weeks.  

The whole of the Upper School gathered for an assembly this morning, thinking about three attributes we would like to nurture: Curiosity, Calm and Kindness.  To follow on from this, each pupil in the school will be setting some ‘Intentions for the Year’, for a whole school display.  Watch this space! 

Over the coming weeks, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of our children and parents and if you haven’t done so already, do come and say hello. I’ll do my very best to remember your names, but please bear with me!

Reception Curriculum Meeting 6:30pm (Reception Classroom)

Monday 12th September 

First violin lessons for Years 1 & 2, Y3 individual music lessons begin (more information to follow tomorrow)

Years 1 & 2 Curriculum Meeting 5:30pm (Y1 Classroom)

Tuesday 13th September

Y3 Swimming lessons begin (during the school day)

School emails - we have created mailing lists for each class and both sites and occasionally some tweaking is required at the start of the year. If you are not receiving emails, please firstly check in your spam/junk folder and if you find them there, drag them into your inbox. You may need to repeat this process a few times.

A message from the Council of Management

Dear Parents, 

It is a pleasure to welcome back our families, pupils and staff – both existing and new – to the Children’s House School at the start of this academic year.  

I am also delighted to welcome Ellie Grunewald to her new post as Headteacher of the Children’s House School.  We are excited to work with her and the team as the school moves to its next chapter with our first cohort of Year 3 pupils starting this week.  Please join me in welcoming Ellie to our school community over the coming days.  

In terms of the school expansion project, it is exciting to announce that we have met our first project milestones with enhancements at our King Henry’s walk site including:  

· Two beautiful new classrooms in the Upper Hall of St Jude and St Paul’s Church

· A redecorated Lower Hall for multi-purpose use and;

· A re-developed playground area 

We look forward to inviting you to an official opening event later this term. 

In the coming weeks, our contractors will continue works inside the school toilet area and while these works conclude, the church have very kindly agreed for us to continue using their toilet facilities. 

I would like to take this opportunity to say special thanks to Ainsley Stocker, our project manager for the school expansion, for her dedication and tenacity, particularly over the summer months to ensure that the works would be completed in time and to such a high standard despite labour and supply shortages that make such endeavours more demanding than ever. 

Our focus will now turn to the redevelopment of our Elmore Street premises and we will update you on these plans in due course.
