Dear Parents
It has been a pleasure watching your children settle into school over the past two week and getting to know them, gradually learning their names. I have also enjoyed meeting those parents who made it in for our Curriculum evenings and welcome drinks at the Nursery.
The children’s enthusiasm for being back at school is testament to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at The Children’s House, and the efforts of our dedicated staff to prepare classrooms and activities that are inviting and ease children back into learning. |The classrooms are already looking lived in, with working walls including the human body (complete with creatively spelt body parts), junk model houses with slides and boats on the roofs, careful self portraits and class agreements proudly created by the children themselves.
My highlights this week have been our whole school assemblies and our first extracurricular activities and specialist subjects: Music, Spanish, individual piano and cello lessons, violins, swimming and adventure playground. The children were beaming when they came back from swimming, delighted to be the first cohort ever to have had this opportunity!
Our first Wednesday Themed Assembly launched a whole school art project to spruce up the display case in the playground - soon to be on show, and Friday mornings began with Celebration Assembly. At this new weekly event, teachers will commend two children from each class, sharing an achievement from the week such as excellent work, good attitude or perseverance. This fortnight’s children were thrilled with their special sticker and mention in the Golden Book.
The sun has shone for most of the past fortnight, but the weather is steadily becoming autumnal, so please send in fleeces/sweatshirts and warmer jackets.
Enjoy the longer, bank holiday weekend, and see you on Tuesday.
Ellie
